The Pro Corda Suffolk Coastal Young Musician Awards launched in March 2012 and formed a showcase of local talent offering prestigious further performance opportunities to our community's most deserving young musicians.
This year, SCYMA is supported by The Adnams Charity and will, once again, be open to all instruments (including singers). The Awards will take place at Pro Corda's home, Leiston Abbey, and offer coaching sessions with some of the country's leading performers for all entrants as part of the 'first round' workshop on Sunday 24th February.
Those selected to go through to the Final Round on 3rd March will receive further coaching and a chance to perform at a special showcase concert in Pro Corda's Barn Concert Hall. A final winner and runners up will be selected and prize winners will receive further masterclass opportunities together with prestigious concert platforms in Aldeburgh, Suffolk and at a special Pro Corda Gala Concert. All participants will receive special Celebration of Achievement certificates.
The Suffolk Coastal Young Musician Awards is designed to provide a festival atmosphere and inspire all local young musicians to perform more and give them a wider platform to demonstrate their talents.
Entries for 2013 must be made only by participants who live within a 25 mile catchment area of Southwold.
