Pro Corda Trust
is a registered charity (no. 313772) and
therefore legacies made to it are not liable
to Inheritance Tax. We are happy to accept
legacies and bequests of any of the
following:
Cash and/or
Shares
Legacies of
money may be left either as a residuary (a
share of what is left of an estate once any
debts and legacies have been settled) or a
pecuniary gift (a specific sum of money).
Property
Buildings, land
or specific items of value (e.g. works of
art) can be left to Pro Corda, which can
then be realised to benefit the Trust.
Your solicitor
will be able to give you advice on writing
your will, but we offer below examples of
wording which may be used if you would like
to leave a legacy to Pro Corda Trust.
* For a money
legacy
'I give the sum
of £[ ] to Pro Corda Trust (registered
charity number 313772) of Leiston Abbey, Theberton, Leiston, Suffolk,
IP16 4TD or any successor Charitable Trust
or Company ("the Charity") [and I request
the Charity but without imposing any binding
trust or legal obligation to use the legacy
for ]. I further declare that the receipt
of a Trustee or proper officer shall be a
full and sufficient discharge to my
Executors.'
* For a
residuary gift
'I give the
residue of my real and personal estate which
I can dispose of by Will in any manner I
think proper to Pro Corda Trust (registered
charity number 313772) of Leiston Abbey, Theberton, Leiston, Suffolk,
IP16 4TD or any successor Charitable Trust
or Company ("the Charity"). I further
declare that the receipt of a Trustee or
proper officer shall be a full and
sufficient discharge to my Executors.'
