INCREASING SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT!
What is the Pro Corda SEN
Programme?
Pro Corda’s national
programme for special educational needs
is
available for SEN
Schools, Colleges and Units throughout
the country and is the largest such
programme in UK. Monday to Friday
courses are held at Leiston Abbey during
term.
Participants are given
the opportunity to visit every corner of
the worlds of music, dance and theatre
working together as an ensemble and
taking ownership of the collective
creative process. Coaching is in small
groups by some of the country’s leading
professionals. Creative skills are
developed alongside social and
behavioural skills with the emphasis at
all times on ensemble preparation and
performance, together with creative
expression.
Everyone was excited,
glowing, and grateful for this unique
artistic experience. They could grasp
this programme’s purpose, namely through
the Arts to lift each young person above
the ordinary to taste, become and share
the extraordinary.”
Arthur McDonald. Senior
Teacher, Philpots Manor Steiner School,
W Sussex.

Stage co-ordinator, St Dominics School
for Autistic Children, Surrey.
The beautiful
surroundings and setting of Leiston
Abbey combined with the extensive
facilities of an international music
school help to provide a warm and highly
stimulating atmosphere. Accommodation is
in the 22 bedroom Abbey Farm House and
neighbouring Guesten Lodge. Meals, using
healthy and home grown produce, are
taken in the Guesten Hall. There is a
short House Concert after supper each
day. Each day starts with a group warm
up in the Barn, and everyone comes
together after the afternoon break for a
“Time to Relax” session to refocus the
mind. |
